ISACA, or Information Systems Audit and Control Association, is the organization behind the development of COBIT. It focuses on IT governance, providing benchmarks and governance tools for organizations using information systems.
COBIT's history dates back to 1996, initially helping financial auditors. Over the years, it expanded its scope beyond audit controls, eventually adding management guidelines on cybersecurity, leading to its fifth version in 2013.
