The five-day strike, projected to be the largest at Starbucks, started due to unresolved issues over wages, staffing, and schedules, hitting during the holiday season.
Starbucks Workers United stated that their demands for improved benefits and better working conditions can only be realized through a union contract, highlighting their commitment to a better workplace.
The union indicated that over 290 stores were fully shut down due to the escalating strike as they seek resolutions during one of Starbucks’ busiest sales periods.
Starbucks claimed that only around 170 stores were closed and emphasized that 98 percent of its operations remained unaffected, expressing readiness to resume negotiations with the union.
