As part of this massive shake-up, Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty has been promoted to Chief Content Officer and will work closely with Sharma within Microsoft Gaming."
Phil Spencer is retiring from Microsoft Gaming, and Xbox president Sarah Bond has resigned. Asha Sharma will become Microsoft Gaming CEO, taking Spencer's former responsibilities and overseeing a broad portfolio of studios and franchises. Matt Booty has been promoted to Chief Content Officer and will work closely with Sharma. Sharma joined Microsoft in 2024 as part of AI development and previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Instacart and Vice President of Product at Meta. The portfolio under Sharma includes Activision's Call of Duty, Blizzard's Overwatch and Diablo teams, King's Candy Crush, Mojang's Minecraft, and core Xbox Game Studios such as Playground Games and Halo Studios.
