Owner of Medford construction company sentenced for tax fraud
Briefly

Mauricio Baiense, the owner of Contract Framing Builders, Inc., faced 18 months in prison for tax fraud and making false statements to investigators.
Baiense funneled $11 million from his company account, using cash from subcontractors he controlled to evade paying employment taxes for his employees.
The U.S. Attorney's office noted that Baiense lied under oath about a fatal workplace incident, denying the deceased employee’s affiliation with his company.
In addition to his prison time, Baiense is liable for paying nearly $2.8 million in restitution to the federal government for taxes owed.
