Honda and Nissan announced plans for a merger to form the world’s third-largest automaker, driven by the need to transition to electric vehicles.
Toshihiro Mibe, Honda's president, indicated that the companies would pursue a joint holding company structure, maintaining each brand's principles during integration.
Merging could create a combined entity valued over $50 billion, enabling the trio to better compete with Toyota and Volkswagen in the automotive market.
While discussions are ongoing, Mibe highlighted that several points remain to be studied, noting that implementation is not guaranteed.
