Sally Butcher, owner of Persepolis, stated that the increased National Insurance contributions will force her and her husband to work even more hours, affecting their ability to hire staff.
Mrs. Butcher emphasized, 'What it means is those extra half shifts where I think, I’ll just get someone else in and go to the pub, means actually I’ll stay behind, I’ll work that shift.'
She lamented that the NI changes will complicate the lives of small business owners, making it challenging to offer employment opportunities to those who need them.
Kieron Williams defended the Budget, stating the changes to business rates and the increases in the minimum wage will significantly help small business owners amidst the cost of living crisis.
