Marin boosts minimum pay for contractors, caregivers
Briefly

Marin County's living wage will increase from $18 to $18.70 per hour, alongside a raise for IHSS workers from $19 to $19.50, effective Jan. 1.
The living wage ordinance, adopted in 2002, requires contractors and subcontractors earning over $25,000 to pay employees at least a specified higher wage than the state minimum.
The county's supervisors approved a 70-cent hike, reflecting the 3.8% rise in the Bay Area consumer price index from April 2023 to April 2024.
The living wage increases primarily impact contract workers, with IHSS providers historically benefiting when living wage rates were higher than their contracted rates.
