Consumer prices increased 0.3% in September, pushing the annual inflation rate to 3%, the highest level since January. Gasoline rose 4.1% month-over-month and was the largest contributor to the monthly increase. Grocery prices at home were up 0.3% for the month and 2.7% year-over-year, with steep annual gains in coffee (18.9%) and beef and veal (14.7%). Electricity and used vehicles showed roughly 5.1% annual increases, while shelter rose 0.2% for the month and 3.6% year-over-year. Medical services increased 3.9% over the past year.
