The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) announced that Boeing workers are set to vote on a proposed labor deal that includes a 35% wage increase.
Negotiations were bolstered by federal Democratic lawmakers urging both Boeing and IAM to quickly reach a fair agreement that acknowledges the critical role of the machinist workforce.
IAM leadership expressed optimism regarding the proposed deal, which they've indicated is worthy of consideration after receiving aid from US Secretary of Labor, Julie Su.
With about 33,000 Boeing workers on strike since September 13, the union initially sought a 40% pay increase, while Boeing's offer was met with disapproval.
