1,300 Indeed and Glassdoor staff laid off
Briefly

Recruit Holdings has announced a global reduction of about 1,300 employees, mainly affecting its HR Technology segment that manages Indeed and Glassdoor. As part of this restructuring, Glassdoor will merge with Indeed, resulting in the resignation of its CEO. The CEO, Hisayuki Idekoba, indicated that artificial intelligence will play a key role in redesigning operations and increasing efficiency, with considerable changes already seen in programming output attributed to AI. The hiring demand for coders has notably decreased since the pandemic.
"The HR Technology segment of Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd., which operates Indeed and Glassdoor, announced a reduction of approximately 1,300 employees, representing about 6 percent of the segment's total workforce as of April 1, 2025."
"We're going to have more agentic experience for employers and job seekers and to improve our internal productivity. I have been saying, almost every team, 'Hey, you guys need to rethink and redesign all operations from scratch with AI.'"
"For example, one-third of our programming codes are written by AI now. It's going to be 50 percent pretty soon. Meaning, we need to have a good vision."
