Known by the nickname "Vinsanity" because of his unique athleticism, the 6-6 guard was an eight-time All-Star over that span and was named to an All-NBA team twice.
Carter retired with 25,728 career points, which ranks 21st all-time in NBA history.
During his stint with the Nets from 2004-09, Carter averaged 23.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game while shooting 44.7% from the field and 37% from 3-point range.
Carter was named a Hall of Fame finalist in February in his first year of eligibility. He was the fifth-overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft.
