Woman torched to death on MTA train allegedly by illegal migrant still cannot be ID'd three days after horrifying attack due to severe burns: sources

The victim, who was asleep when set ablaze on a Brooklyn subway, remains unidentified due to severe burns, and authorities struggle with evidence collection.

Assistant District Attorney Ari Rosenberg disclosed that the medical examiner confirmed "smoke inhalation and thermal injuries" as the cause of death during Zapeta-Calil's arraignment.

The defendant, Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, reportedly stated that he 'drinks a lot of liquor' and could not recall details of the incident.

The city medical examiner stated that after identifying the victim, efforts would be made to reach her next of kin before public disclosure.
