Woman convicted of stowing away on flight to Paris faces extradition to Connecticut
Briefly

Svetlana Dali, a 57-year-old with a green card from Russia, was sentenced for stowing away on a flight to Paris. A federal judge in Brooklyn denied her release due to new charges in Connecticut, where authorities seek extradition for felony charges. Dali expressed fears of being poisoned, claiming her actions were to save her life. Security breaches occurred at both Bradley International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport, allowing her to board the flight to Paris despite lacking documentation.
"All of these actions were taken in order to save my life," Dali said in Russian through a translator.
Dali was able to get through security checkpoints at Bradley International Airport by hiding among other passengers.
Connecticut authorities are seeking to extradite her to face felony charges that could have her serving up to five years behind bars if convicted.
During her sentencing, Dali spoke for more than half an hour, repeating in detail her claim that she believes she is being poisoned by unknown persons.
