Firefighters responded promptly around 8:38 a.m., discovering heavy smoke and locating the fire in the compactor chute. With the deployment of 78 firefighters and three hoselines, the blaze was brought under control by 9:39 a.m. Fortunately, a search of the building revealed no additional victims, and the two injured residents opted not to seek medical attention.
