Toronto extends hours at 10 outdoor pools in September | CBC News
Briefly

Toronto will extend the hours of 10 outdoor pools from Sept. 2 to Sept. 22 to help residents cope with expected warm weather. Mayor Olivia Chow emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for people to cool down as temperatures are predicted to remain in the 20s for at least the next two weeks.
Chow noted that normally the swimming pool closes after Labour Day, but due to climate change making warm fall weather common, it is vital to adjust accordingly. The selected pools were chosen based on their location, available staff, and sufficient lighting for evening programming.
The extended hours for the pools will cost the city about $350,000, according to Cathy Vincelli, acting director of community recreation. Chow stated they will track usage during the extended hours to determine if the initiative is worthwhile.
