Briefly

The Norwegian Christian Home hosted a vibrant fundraiser for the Norwegian Day Parade, attracting locals who cherish the community's rich Norwegian heritage. Former Brooklyn politician Marty Golden expressed gratitude for the significant contributions made by Norwegian immigrants in shaping Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights, citing their involvement in establishing key institutions. The 17th of May Parade commemorates the Norwegian Constitution and is backed by residents and organizations dedicated to preserving this cultural legacy. The event showcased delicious food and lively music, fostering unity among attendees regardless of their background.
The Norwegians, many came in, many, many years ago. They helped build our schools, our churches, our hospitals, our homes. We've all come here - my parents came from Ireland, we all came from some place.
What you've done for our city and our state, from founding the Norwegian Christian Home in Dyker Heights to Lutheran Medical Center, what you guys have been able to accomplish, all I can say is, 'Thank you.'
The celebration featured delicious food, lively music and a shared sense of community as residents - of Norwegian descent and not - gathered to support the longstanding cultural event.
Formally known as the 17th of May (Syttende Mai) Parade, the march takes place each year, rain or shine, honoring the Nordic heritage of Bay Ridge.
