According to police, the woman was standing in front of 968 McDonald Avenue, in between 18th and Webster avenues, at around 8:55 p.m. on Jan. 1, when a pair of unknown men on a two-wheeled vehicle rode up to her. The men - one of whom was caught on security camera footage wearing a green-tip cap that closely resembled a Santa hat - then swiped the woman's bag and fled to parts unknown, cops said.
The precinct, encompassing the neighborhoods of Midwood and Kensington, had 92 reported robberies in 2023 as of Dec. 31, according to the latest available Police Department data. That's just two fewer than the 94 reported during the same time frame in 2022.
