Open Streets will return to Park Slope's Fifth Avenue after local merchants secure new sponsor * Brooklyn Paper
Briefly

Park Slope's Fifth Avenue merchants secured funding to continue the "Open Street" program after the Business Improvement District pulled out due to lack of city funding for staffing, insurance, and programming costs.
New York Presbyterian Hospital and U. Santini Moving & Storage have joined as sponsors, with the Department of Transportation's approval for a car-free zone on Fifth Avenue every Saturday from May to November.
The program will cover a smaller area of four blocks instead of the usual 16, with the association recognizing the support and foundation laid by the BID over the last four years.
The management of the program is challenging as it's run by volunteers, but community participation and love for the event remain strong.
