Caitlin Maestrini opened Teak New York's flagship location in Greenpoint after successfully running a pop-up shop. The growth from a small storefront to a larger space reflects a commitment to Scandinavian contemporary design. Maestrini's journey began in rural Pennsylvania, evolving from a teacher to a designer through Sotheby's Institute of Art. Influenced by her love for Scandinavian furniture, Maestrini identified a market gap for such designs. Each product at Teak New York is chosen based on authenticity and sustainability, ensuring a curated collection.
"I knew it was going to be a huge change, but I also knew I was ready." Maestrini reflects on her transition from a small storefront to a flagship location.
"When I got back home, I realized that no one was selling true Scandinavian furniture. I was buying vintage things, but really loved teak wood and was collecting vintage pieces." Maestrini describes the inspiration behind her business.
"I never bring in something I don't believe in or something I haven't seen first." This commitment highlights the focus on authenticity and sustainability at Teak New York.
