NYC drought watch: Historically dry October leads to water conservation efforts in November | amNewYork
Briefly

October 2024 was the driest month in New York City since 1869, recording just a hundredth of an inch of rain compared to the normal of 4.38 inches.
In light of reduced rainfall and record warmth, Mayor Eric Adams has called for an update to the city's water conservation plans to protect reservoir levels.
As of Nov. 1, the NYC water supply is at 65.9% capacity, significantly below the normal 76.6%, indicating a pressing need for conservation measures.
The warm October saw a mean temperature of 60.9 degrees, three degrees higher than normal, contributing to parched grounds and an increased risk of brush fires.
