Briefly

Nurses at NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn have successfully ratified a new contract, enhancing the salaries of the nurses by 15.8% and mandating the hiring of 100 additional nurses to combat persistent understaffing issues. This agreement, finalized by the Federation of Nurses/UFT, aims to improve nursing retention, recruitment, and economic equity for workers. Highlights of the deal include significant wage increases, a one-time retention bonus, and guarantees for health care and pension, reflecting ongoing efforts to enhance working conditions within the hospital system.
'The contract gives our nurses the respect they deserve by raising salaries and requiring NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn to hire the nurses they need to safely staff their hospital,' said Anne Goldman.
'We had a focus - to increase our base salary to equal or surpass what was offered by the surrounding hospitals. We were determined to make this happen, for fairness and to be in a better position to recruit and retain nurses,' said Moncef Righi.
