Pooja Tripathi left her corporate marketing job in 2018 after facing bullying from her boss. She felt unfulfilled despite working in a seemingly glamorous fashion industry. After quitting, she found success in comedy by creating and acting in a YouTube series, Brooklyn Coffee Shop, which started in June 2023. The series became popular on TikTok and Instagram, resulting in episodes being viewed over 3 million times. Tripathi earns more than twice her previous salary and intends to pursue social media full-time in December 2024, overcoming initial risks and challenges along the way.
"Having a job everyone thinks sounds cool [then] feeling like you can't reach any goals day-to-day is not easy. You feel like a lie."
"The second act of my career is more authentic, fulfilling and twice as lucrative. I started writing and acting for a YouTube series with a friend."
"Some episodes of Brooklyn Coffee Shop are viewed over 3 million times. The success has helped land personal social media brand deals."
"I had to take risks to get this far. I took on a roommate in my one-bedroom New York apartment to save money."
