The Bronx has welcomed a new 10-screen cinema, the Regal Concourse, filling a significant entertainment gap left by the closure of the Concourse Multiplex. This cinema revamp includes modern amenities such as reclining seats and surround sound, making it an appealing hub for families. Local residents, including Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, have expressed the necessity and emotional significance of this space for children and families. The cinema is also hosting affordable charity screenings, ensuring access to entertainment for the community.
"There's nothing for [kids] to do because public parks aren't safe past a certain time," said Ingrid Walton, 36. "There's nothing around here unless you're willing to pay for Yankee tickets."
"After the closure of the Concourse Multiplex, many in our community felt the loss of a space where children, families, and movie lovers could come together to enjoy the magic of film," said Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson.
"I was devastated when they closed the multiplex cinema here," said Ashtyn McCall, a 35-year-old hairstylist who brought her child to the opening of the new cinema.
