New LIRR schedules take effect Tuesday, adding Oyster Bay, Brooklyn trains
Briefly

The Long Island Rail Road's fall schedule will add more direct morning trains for Oyster Bay and Brooklyn riders, aiming to improve service and address commuter complaints.
LIRR president Robert Free stated the schedule changes reflect the railroad's efforts to monitor customer riding patterns and act on their feedback, emphasizing a responsive approach to commuter needs.
With the opening of Grand Central Madison, direct service has changed significantly; the LIRR eliminated timed connections, which previously allowed trains to wait for each other at Jamaica.
New changes include the rerouting of the 7:17 a.m. train from Oyster Bay to Penn Station, which should decrease the need for tedious transfers at Jamaica.
