MTA Starts Automated Camera Enforcement on New Bus Routes
Briefly

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) activated the warning period for Automated Camera Enforcement (ACE) on 10 new bus routes starting on September 16 to reduce illegal parking.
Fines will begin at $50 for first violations and escalate up to $250 for repeat offenses, as part of efforts to improve traffic flow and safety.
Once activated, the ACE program is expected to improve bus lane speeds by 5%, reduce collisions by 20%, and lower emissions by 5% to 10%.
According to the MTA, only 9% of drivers commit a second violation after receiving a fine, indicating the effectiveness of the enforcement measures.
