More NYC Children Enrolled in Early Childhood Education Centers in 2024
Briefly

In the latter half of 2024, New York City experienced a significant increase in early childhood education enrollment, with a 21% rise in child care vouchers issued by the Administration for Children's Services (ACS) compared to the previous year. This equates to an additional 13,869 children receiving vouchers, bringing the total enrollment to 79,411. Mayor Eric Adams remarked on his administration's commitment to making NYC a more family-friendly city through accessible and affordable child care, despite closing several centers due to low enrollment. The number of applicants for early childhood education has also surged, highlighting growing demand.
Our administration is focused on making New York City the best place to raise a family, and that means making New York City more affordable, keeping our city's residents safe, and improving quality of life for working-class New Yorkers.
The data shows that, once-again, we are delivering on that mission by expanding access to affordable child care, especially for our most needy families.
