Man fatally struck by pickup truck driver on BQE in Bay Ridge: NYPD * Brooklyn Paper

The NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad determined that the crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 21 as the pedestrian was walking on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway near 86th Street. Upon arrival at the scene, cops found the man unresponsive, lying on the roadway with severe head trauma. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene and determined that numerous vehicles had also unknowingly run over his body following the initial collision.
An investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made, cops said, adding that the Nissan driver remained at the scene. Three crashes have been reported along that stretch of the BQE near 86th Street over the last five years, resulting in seven motorist injuries.
The Sept. 21 incident is the second pedestrian death in Bay Ridge this month. On Sept. 11, a 74-year-old man was killed by the driver of a white SUV in a hit-and-run crash as he was crossing Ridge Boulevard at Bay Ridge Avenue.
