Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that New York State is sending a skilled emergency response team to Asheville, NC, to assist with recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene.
The New York State Incident Management Team is deployed to handle incidents efficiently and effectively, regardless of their cause, size, or complexity.
Hurricane Helene caused extreme flooding in western North Carolina, leading to the washing away of homes, bridges, and roads, and creating massive sinkholes.
In preparation for Hurricane Helene, a team of swift water rescue personnel, including canines, was sent ahead to assist local emergency management.
