Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso has announced the initiation of the Community Baby Shower Fund, which allocates up to $5,000 to selected local organizations supporting new families. This initiative stems from a $50,000 discretionary fund aimed at providing resources for new and expecting parents. Six organizations from various neighborhoods have been selected to host baby showers, which offer critical items and create supportive networks for families. Reynoso emphasized the importance of these events in fostering community connection and supporting parenthood.
"Funding for our community baby showers enables us to celebrate and uplift new and expecting parents, ensuring they receive critical items like baby gear, hygiene products, and educational resources," said Brenda Carter, founder of Rewrite Corp.
"Community baby showers provide a space where neighbors can share in the joys and anxieties of welcoming a new life into the world, access resources, and create a network of support for new and expecting parents," Reynoso said in a statement.
