The FDNY said the inferno ignited inside 35 Winthrop St. in Prospect Lefferts Gardens just after 12:50 a.m. on Jan. 30. The Fire Department said the blaze broke out on the fourth floor of the six-story structure. Approximately 21 units, including 79 firefighters and EMS units, responded to the incident, along with officers from the 71st Precinct."
"During a search, firefighters located the victim, an 81-year-old woman, inside a fourth-floor apartment, unconscious and unresponsive, and removed her from the building. Despite all efforts to resuscitate her, she was ultimately pronounced dead by EMS. The NYPD has not yet released her identity, pending family notification. Firefighters brought the inferno under control just before 2 a.m. Friday. Fire marshals are now investigating the possible cause of the blaze."
