Police said the driver hit the woman, who has not been identified, as she crossed at the intersection of Howard Avenue and Bainbridge Street shortly after 8 p.m. on Jan. 25. The driver remained on the scene after the crash, and the NYPD's Highway Collision Unit is investigating the incident.
The intersection where the woman was struck - which has stop signs on one-way northbound Howard Avenue and one-way westbound Bainbridge Street - has seen three crashes resulting in three injuries over the last five years, according to data collected by CrashMapper, and the entire stretch of Howard Avenue between Fulton Street and Broadway has seen dozens of crashes - including one fatality.
