Hundreds of Brooklyn residents and their dogs gathered in Fort Greene Park for the annual Great Pupkin costume contest hosted by Fort Greene PUPS. Canine costumes ranged from pop culture tributes to elaborate DIY masterpieces, highlighting local creativity and community engagement. Judges included Council Member Crystal Hudson, podcaster Ashley Hamilton, and Pamela Soberman of the Fort Greene Park Conservancy. The event has become a joyful fall tradition and now relies mostly on word of mouth after earlier physical marketing efforts. First place was awarded to Rosie, a 15-year-old Chihuahua dressed as the viral "blueberry muffin dog" meme. Attendees enjoyed a playful, creative respite before winter.
