"Cops later said that, according to a review of the surveillance footage, it appeared that two groups were fighting on the sidewalk outside the mall when one perp pulled out a gun and began firing. The victim was not involved in the argument, and was reported to be the only person who was injured."

She remained conscious and alert when police arrived and was transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in stable condition. The gunman escaped the scene and remains at large. An investigation is ongoing.
