Laquan Battle, a 28-year-old man from New Lots, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to murder an Uber Eats driver by shooting at him during a drive-by incident in December 2021.
According to Eric Gonzalez, Brooklyn District Attorney, Battle's actions were a "shocking act of violence that put a stranger's life at risk and terrorized a peaceful neighborhood," and the sentence is a commitment to gun violence accountability.
After a thorough investigation that included video surveillance footage identifying Battle's vehicle, he was apprehended in Georgia and returned to New York to face charges.
The sentence of 10 years in prison includes five years of post-release supervision, underscoring the seriousness with which the District Attorney's office treats reckless endangerment of public safety.
