"Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy reminds us of the power of community, action and the pursuit of justice," said Atiba Edwards, president and CEO of the Brooklyn Children's Museum. "Through engaging performances, creative storytelling and hands-on activities, we will provide families with meaningful ways to reflect on his work and inspire the next generation of changemakers."
Join Megan Madison, author of the book Our Skin: A First Conversation About Race for a special MLK Day storytime and art activity. Explore age-appropriate ways to talk about race, racism and a world without war.
Children can learn about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and legacy through civil rights songs, chants and a march led by musician and artist Fyütch. Fyütch will share MLK's values and convictions.
This year's festival features interactive shadow puppet performances created by Nehprii Amenii; music and protest marching with Grammy-nominated musician Fyütch; readings of Our Skin with author Megan Madison and community art-making projects.
