Bath Beach apartment building fire injures 4 as firefighters rescue trapped residents * Brooklyn Paper
Briefly

A fire occurred in a Bath Beach apartment building, injuring four people on July 12. It started on the top floor at around 11 a.m. Firefighters arrived to see smoke emanating from a fourth-floor unit, where residents were trapped. Emergency crews evacuated residents and tended to injuries, resulting in three civilians and one firefighter hospitalized. The fire was under control by 12:16 p.m., and the cause is under investigation. Complaints regarding exposed wires were previously filed with the Department of Buildings.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, smoke was pouring from the windows of a fourth-floor unit, and several people were trapped inside the building, including one woman who waved a napkin from her open window to get the attention of firefighters down below.
Crews moved quickly to evacuate the rest of the residents as they battled the main body of the fire. Three civilians and one firefighter were hospitalized with minor injuries, per the FDNY.
The cause of the blaze was not immediately clear, and will be investigated by the FDNY's fire marshal. A July 12 complaint filed with the Department of Buildings said there were exposed or defective wires within the building, documents show.
My niece and nephews ages 1 month, a year and a half and 3 were trapped inside. It was scary as hell.
