"Just before 1 a.m. Friday, NYPD officers were called to Jamaica Hospital to investigate another fatal incident, which happened overnight in Cypress Hills, about a mile north of the shooting. Police said two men, ages 25 and 30, were brought to the hospital with stab wounds after they were attacked near Ridgewood Avenue and Crescent Street. The 30-year-old, who was stabbed in his right armpit, was pronounced dead at the hospital."
Two 20-year-old brothers were shot around 2:40 p.m. Thursday near Sutter and Euclid avenues in East New York. One brother, Darius Coles, was shot in the chest, taken to Brookdale Hospital and pronounced dead. His brother suffered a bullet wound to the leg and a graze wound to the head and was in stable condition. Officers sought a man who fled wearing a red tracksuit, white shirt and white shoes. Separately, two men aged 25 and 30 were brought to Jamaica Hospital after a stabbing in Cypress Hills; the 30-year-old died. Through Aug. 31 the 75th Precinct recorded nine homicides, up two year-over-year, while shootings were down over 17% and felony assaults down 8%.
