The New York Police Department is currently investigating a series of ATM burglaries that resulted in the theft of 16 machines across New York City, predominantly in Brooklyn. With incidents occurring mostly late at night or early morning, neighborhoods like Sunset Park and Bed-Stuy are significantly impacted. Authorities report that the thieves typically work in groups of one to four and use SUVs to escape the scene of the crime.
In addition to the successful ATM thefts, the suspects were also involved in four aborted attempts to steal machines. During one incident, they managed to access cash without taking the entire ATM, illustrating a level of intent and skill in their operations. The NYPD has not reported any injuries concerning these burglaries, suggesting an organized and calculated approach by the suspects to minimize confrontations.
