Lou's, a restaurant and live music venue in Harvard Square, is set to open on July 26 in the former Beat Brasserie space. The venue will host local DJs and showcase newer artists, aiming for a diverse musical experience. Executive chef Jason Bond is reviving classic dishes, including Baked Oysters a la Gino. Additional menu items will feature unique starters and mains like the Lou's Burger, flatiron steak, and vegetarian options. Lou's promises a blend of music and dining that honors the area's historic charm.
"We'll host local DJs who all have different styles, but also showcasing newer artists, whether that's someone from Berklee (College of Music) or someone that just moved to Boston, that's our goal to kind of get a little bit of everything, and long term, you can expect to probably see some surprises too," says general manager Allison Finney.
Executive chef Jason Bond has been researching local favorites, and is doing his take on the historic former Boston restaurant Locke Ober's Baked Oysters a la Gino, which has bacon, crab, and bread crumbs.
Other starters to get the night going include Milwaukee shrimp cocktail, locally fished ceviche with pickled shallots, and beef tartare served with salt and malt vinegar potato chips.
Look for mains like the Lou's Burger on a potato roll with Vermont cheddar, a flatiron steak with fries and a watercress salad, and linguine with clams.
