"Casas is born to hit in Fenway," Gammons wrote. "Craig Breslow worked hard with Seattle, but they were not interested in Casas in their park. Ball doesn't travel. Hitting background tough."
The 24-year-old hit .241 with an .800 OPS, 13 home runs and 32 RBIs in just 63 games in 2024, as he missed months in the middle of the season due to torn cartilage in his rib.
Boston moving on from Casas now would probably be selling low, but there's still a chance he's moved at some point this offseason.
While nothing has materialized to this point, it's not for a lack of trying, as MLB insider Robert Murray reported on Tuesday that the two sides have talked.
