Brett de Geus was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays to create a 40-man roster spot after the signing of Jeff Hoffman.
The 27-year-old right-handed reliever had a brief outing with the Jays, allowing four runs in just 2 1/3 innings and concludes the season with a 7.48 ERA.
De Geus has struggled throughout his MLB career, posting a 7.48 ERA over 61 1/3 innings. His performance includes a below-average strikeout rate of 15.6%.
Despite his struggles in the majors, de Geus' potential remains as he has the option to elect minor league free agency if he clears waivers.
