Gomes, an NBA player turned advocate for AEDs, began his mission after a childhood friend's sudden cardiac death. Recognizing the importance of these devices, he urged Division I colleges, including Utah State, to equip their facilities with AEDs. Consequently, Berger survived what could have been a fatal incident, now cherishing his family and life thanks to Gomes' commitment to preventing such tragedies in sports.
