Ice dancers Gilles, Poirier sticking to their plan at worlds with gold medal in sight | CBC Sports
Briefly

Heading into the world figure skating championships in Boston, Canadian ice dancers Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier carry pride and confidence after winning gold at the Four Continents Championships. Their recent victory over American champions Madison Chock and Evan Bates signifies their readiness for the competition. With 12 world championship participations, Gilles and Poirier highlight the importance of training and pacing through a long season to ensure peak performance. Their previous experiences guide their strategies this year, as they aim for gold amidst competitive margins.
We're going into this event very confident and believing in our abilities, but I think that comes more from our training and our preparation than anything else.
We know exactly how we need to train and how to develop a program over the course of the season.
Many years we've gone into worlds and we've overtrained and haven't skated our best, because we felt dead by the time we got there.
