In HBO's 'The White Lotus', all cast members, whether seasoned actors like Jason Isaacs and Michelle Monaghan or newcomers, are paid the same rate of $40,000 per episode. Producer David Bernad emphasizes equality among actors as foundational to the show's success, established during its budget constraints in the first season. This pay structure encourages participation for artistic reasons rather than financial gain. Although some actors like Lalisa Manoban have significant wealth, the focus remains on collaboration and shared commitment to the project, as noted by casting director Meredith Tucker.
Veteran actors like Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Carrie Coon, and Michelle Monaghan were paid around $40,000 an episode ($320,000 for an eight-episode season), the same amount as the less experienced actors on set.
"Everyone is treated the same on 'The White Lotus,'" producer David Bernad told The Hollywood Reporter last week.
"It's a system we developed in the first season because there was no money to make the show."
"They get paid the same, and we do alphabetical billing, so you're getting people who want to do the project for the right reasons."
