Officer fatally shoots dog that attacked victim in Dorchester, police say

At 8:26 p.m., police responded to 77 Dakota St. for a report of a dog biting a person in a park, according to the Boston Police Department.

Upon arrival, the officer shot the dog, police said. The victim, who had nonlife-threatening injuries, and the dog were taken to a local hospital, authorities said.

The dog succumbed to its injuries and died, according to police, following the incident that raised significant concerns about public safety.
