MBTA Board approves reduced fares for low-income riders
Briefly

Riders between the ages of 26 and 64 who make $30,000 a year or less will be eligible for half-priced fares on all transportation services.
A MIT study found that low-income residents given a 50% discount on transit tickets took 30% more trips, especially to healthcare and social services.
"Expanding low-income fares will help to ensure that our transportation system is more equitable and affordable," said Secretary of Transportation Monica Tibbits-Nutt.
