In the face of the terrifying devastation inflicted by Israel in Gaza, I also treasure the spark of hope about the Black-Palestinian solidarity movement expressed by Zalloua.
Zahi Zalloua told me this summer, 'I'm very invested in the reignited Black-Palestinian solidarity movement; it points to the vibrancy of an anti-racist, anti-colonial Left.'
I must speak out. I do so partly because I am Black, and I know what it means to be treated as the wretched of the earth. I'm also compelled because I am deeply haunted by the mass death of Palestinians.
