Trump begins process to relist Yemen's Houthis as terrorist' organisation

President Trump has initiated a formal process to redesignate Yemen's Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization, a decision reflecting a shift in US policy since the Biden administration. The executive order directs Secretary of State Marco Rubio to make a recommendation based on consultations with national intelligence and treasury leaders within a month. This action aims to strengthen US partnerships in the region to counter Houthi operations, following significant attacks on maritime targets attributed to the group, which have escalated tensions in the Red Sea area.

Under President Trump, it is now the policy of the United States to cooperate with its regional partners to eliminate the Houthis' capabilities and operations.
