Slain NYC bodega-owner, grandma senselessly gunned down remembered as 'Mayor of Harlem' as mourners rail against NYC gun violence
Briefly

The Harlem community mourns the loss of Excenia Mette, a 61-year-old bodega owner affectionately known as "Momma Zee," who was tragically killed by a stray bullet. Mette was remembered during a march where friends and family paid tribute to her, calling for an end to gun violence. Grandson Jarian Jordan Jr. expressed deep grief over her death, and those close to her reflected on her influence in the community. Darious Smith was arrested in relation to the incident, believed to have exchanged gunfire before the fatal shot struck Mette as she checked on her grandson.
"This pain is like no pain I've ever felt in my life," Jordan said.
"Let me tell you about this boss, because this woman is a boss," Moyler said.
"She should be alive today," Ashley Sharpton said of Mette.
"My grandmother should be here," said heartbroken grandson Jarian Jordan Jr., 24.
