"I wanted to create a group where Black women could experience these art spaces together, something that was accessible, conversational and multi-generational," Merriwether-Hawkins articulates the vision behind BGIAS, focusing on inclusivity and the importance of dialogue among diverse age groups.
"This is a community garden. I planted the seed, and so many people have come along and poured into it," Kaci Merriwether-Hawkins reflects on the growth of BGIAS from a small gathering to a global network, emphasizing the nurturing spirit of community involvement.
