Meet the grassroots group making the art world more welcoming for Black women

"This is a community garden. I planted the seed, and so many people have come along and poured into it," Kaci Merriwether-Hawkins reflects on the growth of BGIAS from a small gathering to a global network, emphasizing the nurturing spirit of community involvement.
"It was my first time being in a new space where it was more difficult to make connections," Merriwether-Hawkins shares her personal journey that led to the creation of BGIAS, illustrating the challenges of establishing friendships in a new environment.
